We are excited to announce the 7th Annual Sacramento Banana Festival, a two-day Sacramento community festival featuring fun for the whole family! That’s right, the 2016 Sacramento Banana Festival will be here before you know it, and we are going to deliver a most exciting event for you and your family.
This year, we are switching things up a bit: the Sacramento Banana Festival will be held at Shasta Park during the third weekend of August. So make sure to save the date and location in your calendar for Saturday, August 20th, from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM, and Sunday, August 21st, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, at 7404 Shasta Ave., Elk Grove, California.
As always, health and wellness is vital to our festival, and we are delivering tons of fun opportunities for you to nourish your body, mind and spirit.
Shasta Park spans 13 acres and has wonderful amenities for you to enjoy, such as plenty of off-street parking, shaded picnic areas, an outdoor reading area with Peter Rabbit sculptures, as well as a water mister area for lots of fun on a hot day! Our new venue will provide you with more activities for the whole family too, including tennis lessons, regulation soccer field, softball field, tetherball, horseshoe courts, volleyball courts, walking and jogging trails, two playgrounds for the kids, a neighboring skate park, and additional exercise stations.
The Sacramento Banana Festival will again support local non-profits in raising funds for their good causes by participating in the Banana Bread Path and other activities while also sharing important resources with our community. In addition, the festival celebrates art, culture, diversity, music, food and, of course, America’s favorite fruit: the Banana!
Lastly, make sure to register youth for the Banana Festival contest entries posted on the festival website. Stay tuned for updated applications for the Banana Got Served Youth Talent Competition, Carmen Miranda Hat Contest, Miniature Banana Shoe Box Floats, Banana Youth Chess Competition, Banana Pie Eating Contest, Little Mr. and Miss Banana Pageant, and more!
